Paris Hexagon Pillow

We had a basement flood that derailed most of my summer plans! Then school started and we put the basement (family room) back together. Now I finally have a little time to sew again!

The front of this pillow is a single quilted piece of fabric, while the back is pieced hexagon stars.  The hexagon stars are quilted on the diagonal lines in a diamond pattern.  The purples and greens are not my usual color choices, but I really like the way it turned out, and the robin's egg blue matches most rooms in the house.  After quilting both rectangles I inserted an invisible zipper on one side and stitched up the others to create the pillow cover.

The hexagon stars are machine pieced using this tutorial.  There is a bit of bias stretch to look out for during construction due to the triangles and hexagons, but the tutorial is very clear and it was much easier than it looks!
